Snappy Tree Friend | charred with gold 23k

The Snappy Tree Friend is an unique floor light originating from the idea of turning a natural ‘Ready Made’ into a luxury interior collectible. This floor light combines love for nature with the idea of luxury. Each piece is hand made at your request from preserved branches. The branches, from previously felled trees, are collected in accordance with local forestry commission offices and private owners. Two years or more are needed to age the branch before it is processed and transformed into a light fixture. The aging process is the basis for the quality and exclusivity of this piece.

Each branch has inherent beauty and is carefully selected with an ingenious eye for balance. The movable head of the Snappy Tree Friend is an integral part of the piece, switching the light on and off. A number plate on each piece displays the geological coordinates of the donator tree, the serial number, and the date of production.

The Snappy Tree Friend is available in three finishes: natural, charred, and charred with 23 karat gold. Especially the third version emits a warm light, amplified and reflected by a 23 k gold layer. Additionally, we offer a table version called Little Tree Friend. To acquire your own unique Snappy Tree Friend, and other collectibles by Marco Iannicelli, contact our partner Mint Gallery.

Black Little Tree Friend

The Black Little Tree Friend is made with a charred little branch.
The Little Tree Friend collection in general uses gathered scrap wood void as an Objet Trouivé.

The twigs and branches are collected in accordance with local forestry commission offices and private owners.
Between 12 & 24 months pass by before the branches are being processed and transformed into a light.

You can adjust this table light to redirect the angle of its shine.
A brass hinge functions as both mechanical and electrical connection of the two body units, as it carries electricity to remove the need for additional wiring.

Each piece is equipped with a number plate that shows the geological coordinates of the donator tree’s location, serial number and date of production.

Snappy Tree Friend – burned edition

The Snappy Tree Friend is a Floor light created using gathered scrap wood void.

The branches are collected in accordance with local forestry commission offices and private owners.
Twenty-four months or even more are needed to age the branch before it can be processed and transformed into a light. The long time is necessary to avoid cracks in the vital areas where the hinge is located.

The burned edition is very exclusive. Only branches that peel off by themselves will be charred.
A particular fungus that was living with the tree, divides the bark from the sapwood of beech trees. It’s untouched structure shows a pattern that reminds me of muscles. This layer can barely be made visible without this fungus.

The most challenging detail is the movable head that can be lowered and is an integral part of the whole branch. The movement of the head switches the light off and on.

Yosegi Light

The Yosegi table light is inspired by the Japanese wood working technique of the same name.

Each piece combines 158 elements of exquisite wood in its form.
Four different types of wood are used to create a distinct pattern that re-emerges throughout the piece.

Elegant brass detailing refines the overall appearance.
A simple yet sophisticated cooling system allows thermal draft around the light source, which increases the life span of the LED by reducing its ambient temperature.

Elaborately crafted to contained perfection, the Yosegi light opposes the free flowing character of the ‘Tree Friend’ collection.

Available for pre-order.

WAXLAMP

This piece contradicts the concept of “form follows function” and carries also on deep psychological sentiments connected to the use of an item and to the philosophies of aesthetics and determinism.

What you perceive face value is a shape that resembles a table light cast completely out of wax. Attached to the Wax Lamp you find an electric cable with a switch. The Light bulb will radiate heat melting the wax around it allowing its light to aglow.

You can either keep the “form” or use the “function“. Consequently the concept of “form unfollows function” is applied.

In terms of philosophies of aesthetics one important aspect of emotionalism is caught up;
fear of loss.
The preciousness of beauty is defined by its finitude. The more difficult it is be kept and preserved the more precious it becomes.

This leads to the theory of determinism for the Wax Lamp.
Preserving or destroying is both a decision.

HAPPY TREE FRIEND

The Happy Tree Friend is inspired by the angle poise task light 1933/34

The aesthetic, emotional and intellectual connotations of the classic shape are augmented by application of naturally grown wood to draw a contrast between natural shapes and technical lines within one object.
Metal parts are powder coated. Their colour matching will always be specific to the bark of the tree wood used and will either compliment or contrast its colour.
This light object was created using gathered scrap wood void (in accordance with local forestry commission offices).
The material ages between 12 & 24 months before it will be processed and transformed into a light.

Each piece is equipped with a number plate that shows the geological coordinates of the donator-tree’s location, serial number and date of production.

Materials: steel, wood (e.g. robinia, maple or birch)
